Patient With Arch Asymmetry, Crowded Teeth, and Bilateral Posterior Crossbite Was Treated by Dr Nguyen

Perfectly symmetrical faces are very rare to find.  Even in individual patient with symmetrical face has skeletal asymmetry; this suggests that soft tissues minimize the existing asymmetry.  Therefore small asymmetries are considered normal.  When arch asymmetries become significant, it should be considered in planning for orthodontic treatments.  Most dental asymmetries can be treated with orthodontics alone during patient’s growth period; however, significant asymmetries may require later orthognathic surgical treatments.

Orthodontic Treatment of Patient with Deep Bite, Impacted Teeth, and Facial Asymmetry by Dr Nguyen at Georgia Orthodontic Care, Lawrenceville, GA 30043

A deep bite or overbite is when the upper front teeth significantly overlap the lower front teeth.  Often you cannot see the lower front teeth.  It is very important to correct it because it can cause improper function of your front teeth, incisor edges of lower front teeth biting into the gum tissue of the palate leading to tissue problems and potentially loss of the upper front teeth, unusual wear of lower front teeth, cause your jaw/joint problem, and make your smile less attractive.
